According to the FDA - Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is cooperating with the recall of Darvocet and Darvon. Both are being linked to potentially fatal heart rythem abnormalities. This is according the clinical data which has been reveiwed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

According to an outside advisory panel to the FDA, the benefits of Darvon and Darvocet did not outweigh the high risk of side effects related to either pain drug.

The main active drug in Darvocet and Darvon is propoxyphene, which the FDA has also removed from the market, affecting other generic versions of this widely prescribed pain medication.
